Making your home more energy efficient
You’ve told us that having an energy-efficient home matters as it helps lower your bills and makes your home more comfortable.
In line with government targets, we are working towards all our homes having an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) rating of C or above by 2030.
We’re doing this in lots of ways and one of them is through the Warm Homes: Social Housing Fund. This is a programme backed by the government designed to improve energy efficiency, reduce fuel poverty and help customers move to more sustainable heating, and is helping us bring many homes up to EPC C or above.
In the first year of our three-year retrofit programme, we improved the energy efficiency of 183 homes funded through the scheme. This is a long-term project, with funding to improve around 900 homes across Hampshire, Wiltshire, Dorset and Somerset. Improvements include better insulation and ventilation, solar panels and upgraded heating systems.
To support this work, we introduced a team of dedicated customer support officers this year. They provide help and reassurance from the first contact through to installation.
Environmental technologies are a key feature of the new homes we build, with 175 air source heat pumps installed, solar panels fitted on 203 homes and 495 electric vehicle (EV) charging points made available during the year.
Currently, just over 84% of our over 38,000 homes have an Energy Performance Certificate C rating or above.

Two customers have shared their experiences of benefitting from the investments we have made to make their homes more energy efficient and cheaper to run. We fitted their homes with solar panels, loft insulation, cavity wall insulation, and extractor fans.
They have seen up to £100 a month reduction in energy costs and said: “My old system was difficult to run, but since this has been installed it feels warm throughout the whole house, it’s a lovely, comfortable temperature throughout. The cost difference is massive, we saw our bills drop massively in the last few months, by over £100 since it was fitted.”
