Restorative Practice (RP)

We are proud to be one of the first organisations within our sector to be using Restorative Practice to support and drive our cultural journey.

Restorative Practice enables people to communicate, challenge, understand impact, and accept different perspectives exist, without creating blame or shame or winners and losers.

People won’t always agree and managers (on occasions) will always be responsible for making the final decision (that’s their job) but everyone should always feel able to be heard, understand the reasons for decisions and feel their opinion is respected.

Every Aster Leader is trained in Restorative Practice (Level 1), as the expectation is that they lead their teams using the restorative principles and that when conflict does arise, they are able to resolve issues restoratively.

Sometime issues are complex, and colleagues and managers may need some additional support, in these circumstances support can be requested from one of our independent Level 2 trained Restorative Practice Facilitators.

Sessions for all colleagues

We have invited every colleague (who isn’t a leader, so hasn’t attended the RP level 1 Leader Programme) to attend an Introduction to Restorative Practice session to learn more about what it is, how it works and how to use the restorative principles at work and at home.
